Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Trade has announced the final duty rates on billet imports from all origins.

Accordingly, as of April 2 and valid until September 13, billet imports into Egypt will be subject to a duty of 13 percent of the CIF import value, with a minimum of $70/mt. As SteelOrbis previously reported, the duties will be reduced over the following two years, with a rate of 12 percent of the CIF import value, with a minimum of $64/mt, for the period September 14, 2026-September 13, 2027, and a rate of 11 percent of the CIF import value, with a minimum of $59/mt, for the subsequent period.

Meanwhile, according to local media, quarterly reviews will be conducted to assess the impact of the safeguard measure on the market.
