Italian plantmaker Danieli has announced that its subsidiary Danieli Automation will upgrade India-based ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel Limited’s (AMNS) three slab casters at its Hazira plant. The commissioning works for the first caster are scheduled to start by July 2024.

The upgrade will allow AMNS to align process control of the existing three slab casters to that of the two new, double-strand slab casters which are expected to start production by early 2025.

The new two double-strand slab casters will be supplied by Danieli and enable AMNS to annually produce an additional six million mt of prime quality slabs, as SteelOrbis previously reported.
