Brazilian steelmaker Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (CSN) confirmed this week it may sell assets in the US as part of a plan to reduce its debt.

The company’s response came after local securities exchange regulator, CVM, asked the steelmaker about alleged plans to sell its advanced steel processing plant in Terre Haute, Indiana, for $250 million, to Steel Dynamics, Inc.

Talks were reportedly advanced, according to a CVM document filing, but the company did not provide further details.

The CSN Terre Haute mill has a 350,000 mt/year capacity and offers services including continuous stripping, cold rolling, galvanizing, annealing box and longitudinal section lines.

According to CSN, the facility also has a rail network that runs across the storage areas. Trucks have free access to deliver and pickup products.
