CSC to up steel production capacity to 20 million mt within five years

Ou Chaohua, president of the Taiwan-based steel giant China Steel Corporation (CSC), has announced the company's launch of its ‘DOUBLE 2000' scheme, according to which it will invest NTD 200 billion ($30 billion) in the next five years to lift its steel production capacity to 20 million mt per year from the current 11 million mt per year. Mr. Ou said CSC will continue to focus on the development of new high quality steel products.

Regarding the scheme, Mr. Ou said CSC will seek to reduce emission discharges and energy consumption during its efforts to boost production capacities.
