Crude steel, pig iron output down in Germany

Germany's crude steel output fell 6.3 percent year on year to 3.64 million tons in June 2005, according to provisional data from Germany's Federal Statistical Office. Also, the country's pig iron output dropped 6.1 percent year on year to 2.32 million tons. Compared to the previous month, June production of crude steel dropped off 1.1 percent and pig iron production fell 4.0 percent. Crude steel output totaled 22.89 million tons through the first six months of the year, while pig iron output amounted to 14.87 million tons.
