A Brazilian labor court has maintained a previous judge’s decision preventing flats steelmaker Usiminas from dismissing 900 workers from its Cubatão mill, located in the city of same name in the state of São Paulo, according to a local union report.

As previously reported by SteelOrbis, a previous court decision prevented Usiminas from firing the workers, and the Cubatão union said the company tried to appeal the decision. However, another court maintained the previous decision late last week.

After the initial court ruling in May, Usiminas was ordered to reinstate the dismissed workers.
