Liège Court of Appeal has authorized the transfer of Liberty Liège’s Flémalle and Tilleur plants, to its Romanian subsidiary Liberty Galati, according to media reports. Back in April, a Liège court rejected three takeover offers by ArcelorMittal, Marcegaglia and Liberty Galati.

"This is a decision that was expected. The CSC clearly supported this offer, because it included the acquisition of all activities and workers. The appeal court has taken into account the situation of the workers,” said Jordan Atanasov, the regional secretary of the CSC Métal union.

Regarding the resumption of activities at the plant, the union representative predicts that it will not be made clear until after the summer holidays.
