Corus completes Port Talbot project

Corus Group PLC completed the project worth £79 million at its Port Talbot steel complex in South Wales. The project includes a continuous slab caster that will increase the annual slab production by 25% to 5 million tons. Through this slab plant, Corus will be able to supply slab to its Welsh steel rolling mill, rather than to ship it from Teesside. The investment is expected to improve competitiveness of Corus' UK carbon steel assets. The project is a part of capex program worth more than £200 million in South Wales.
