The Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) has announced that its order made on December 23, 2003 concerning structural tubing known as hollow structural sections (HSS) made of carbon and alloy steel imported from South Korea, South Africa and Turkey is scheduled to expire on December 22, 2008.

Under the Special Import Measures Act (SIMA), findings of injury or threat of injury and the associated special protection in the form of antidumping and countervailing duties expire five years from the date of the last order of finding, unless an expiry review has been initiated before that date.

Interested persons and governments requesting or opposing the initiation of an expiry review should submit their petitions not later than March 17, 2008.

The CITT will issue its decision on April 9, 2008, on whether an expiry review is warranted. If there is no request for a review, the CITT will not initiate a review and the finding will expire on its expiry date.
