Steel bar exports in August stood at 84,700 mt, down 1.01 million mt or 92.24 percent year on year, totaling $62 million in value, down $1.11 billion or 94.72 percent compared with the same month last year. The average export price was $729.49/mt. Total steel bar exports in the January-August period reached 517,400 mt, down 4.55 million mt or 89.79 percent, amounting to $434 million in value, down $4.32 billion or 90.86 percent year on year.
Steel bar imports in August stood at 35,400 mt, down 600 mt or 1.67 percent year on year, totaling $53 million in value, down $21 million or 28.08 percent compared with the same month last year. The average import price was $1,507.15/mt. Total January-August steel bar imports reached 174,700 mt, down 125,200 mt or 41.74 percent, amounting to a total value of $343 million, down $233 million or 40.45 percent year on year.
