China’s crude steel output totals 174.22 million mt in Q1

China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has stated that in the first quarter of the current year Chinese domestic crude steel output reached 174.22 million mt, up 25 percent year on year, with this increase rate down 6.2 percentage points compared to the year-on-year growth rate recorded in the same quarter last year.
 
Accordingly, in the given quarter China's finished steel output totaled 222.46 million mt, up 6.5 percent year on year, coke output totaled 107.77 million mt, up 6.5 percent year on year, while ferroalloy output totaled 7.03 million mt, up 10.5 percent year on year. The respective increases were down 7.2 percentage points, 6.1 percentage points and 11 percentage points compared to the year-on-year increase rates recorded in the first quarter of 2011.
