China’s scrap exports surge to 2,202,849 mt in 2017

In December last year, China exported 182,542 mt of scrap, compared to just 60 mt of scrap exports in December 2016, according to the monthly import and export data issued by the Chinese customs authorities. 

In 2017, China exported 2,202,849 mt of scrap, compared to 1,045 mt in the previous year.

Meanwhile, China imported 230,000 mt of scrap in December last year, down 8.5 percent year on year. In 2017, China imported 2.32 million mt of scrap, up 7.5 percent year on year.
