In October this year, China exported 295,647 mt of scrap, indicating a huge surge compared to just 135 mt of scrap exports in October 2016, according to the monthly import and export data issued by the Chinese customs authorities.
In the January-October period of the current year, China exported 1,680,832 mt of scrap, compared to just 947 mt in the same period last year.
Meanwhile, China imported 170,000 mt of scrap in October this year, up 10.0 percent year on year. In the January-October period this year, China imported 1.91 million mt of scrap, up 13.5 percent year on year.
