China’s pig iron output flies high in May

According to the latest statistics, China's total pig iron output increased 40.9% year on year to 27.7 million tons in May 2005. Total pig iron production through the first five months amounted to 127.41 million tons, a 31.6% year-on-year increase. Shandong province produced 2.65 million tons of pig iron in May with 87% increase, the most among all provinces in China. For the first five months, Shandong's pig iron production soared 68% year-on-year to 11.74 million tons. Liaoning province also posted strong numbers. The province produced 2.6 million tons of pig iron in May, up 28.4% year on year. Liaoning's total pig iron production for the first five months increased 30.4% year on year to 12.64 million tons.
