China’s Jiaxipera Compressor investing $60 million in new Mexican plant

Jiaxipera Compressor Co., with headquarters in Zhejiang, China, will invest $60 million in its new production plant in the northern state of Coahuila, the state government reported.

"Governor Miguel Ángel Riquelme Solís during the inauguration ceremony of the Jiaxipera plant, a company with Chinese capital that invests $60 million and creates 600 jobs," the government reported in a press release.

According to a document from the Ministry of Economy, Mexico is the largest exporter of refrigerators with freezers and separate exterior doors in the world and the third largest exporter of compression refrigerators.

The plant is located in the northern city of Ramos Arizpe, located 45 miles east of Monterrey, Nuevo León, the city where one of the plants of the refrigerator manufacturer Whirlpool is located. It is also 200 miles southwest of the border city of Laredo, Texas.

Jiaxibela has alliances with major global refrigerator producers, including Bosch-Siemens, Liebherr, Whirlpool, Electrolux, GE, Haier and Hisense, among others.

According to the company, the investment of $60 million will be in stages, in the first phase $20 million was already invested to produce two million compressors per year.

In this first phase, the company already has centrifugal casting equipment, casing welding lines, drying ovens, among others.
