China remains absent from global ferrous scrap market in October

In the January-October period of the current year, China’s import volumes of ferrous scrap amounted to 180,000 mt, down 84.5 percent year on year, according to the monthly import and export data issued by the Chinese customs authorities. In particular, following no scrap imports in China in September this year, the country did not import any scrap in October either.

China exported 158 mt scrap in October, down 68.6 percent year on year. In the January-October period, China’s export volumes of scrap amounted to 2,676 mt, down 99.2 percent year on year.
