The Chilean ministry of finance has imposed a 9 percent provisional anti-dumping (AD) duty over the Chinese imports of steel grinding balls, according to a notice published at the nation’s official gazette on January 19.

The provisional AD duty, which took effect on January 19, will last for up to six months, the notice said.

Chilean price distortion commission, CNDP, commenced in May 2018 an AD investigation over the Chinese imports of the product, following a request from local steelmaker CAP Acero.

Then, on November 23, 2018, CNDP recommended a provisional AD duty of 9 percent.

The recommendation was reviewed and approved by the nation’s minister of finance and signed by the president.

The product subject to the provisional AD duty falls under the Chilean HS code 7326.1110, the ministry of finance said on the January 19 document filing.
