Russia-based steel pipe producer ChelPipe Group has announced that it has shipped the first 3,300 mt batch of pipes, which were produced by using steel made by Russian steelmaker Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK), for the Nord Stream 2 pipeline. The first batch for Nord Stream 2 comprised of 1,153 mm diameter pipes of 30.9 mm wall thickness coated with anti-corrosive material both internally and externally.

In March this year, ChelPipe won a tender for large diameter (LD) pipes shipments for Nord Stream 2. Under the contract, the company will supply approximately 600,000 mt of large diameter pipes, including more than 80,000 mt by the end of the current year.
