Canadian rig count continues to increase as US count slips

Baker Hughes reported that for the week ending February 7, the US rig count decreased by 14 to 1,771, following an eight-rig increase the previous week.  However, the rig count is still up by 12 from 1,759 rigs during the same week a year ago.  The oil rig count decreased by six to 1,416, whereas the gas rig count decreased by seven to 351.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by 13 in the week ending February 7 to reach 621, following an 18-rig increase the week before.  However, the Canadian rig count is still down 10 from 631 rigs during the same week a year ago.
