Canadian new vehicle sales up 11.6 percent in May

According to Statistics Canada, new motor vehicle sales in May 2019 totaled 206,821 units, reflecting an increase of 11.6 percent month-on-month and a decrease of 6.1 percent year-on-year. By value, Canadian vehicle sales in May totaled $8.85 billion, compared to $8.06 billion in April and $9.24 billion in May 2018.

Canadian sales of vehicles manufactured in North America totaled 154,925 units in May at a value of $6.73 billion, while sales of vehicles manufactured overseas totaled 51,896 units at a value of $2.12 billion.
