Canadian new vehicle sales down 50.9 percent in April

According to Statistics Canada, new motor vehicle sales in April 2020 totaled 47,168 units, reflecting a decrease of 50.9 percent month-on-month and a decrease of 74.6 percent year-on-year. By value, Canadian vehicle sales in April totaled $2.28 billion, compared to $4.47 billion in March and $8.06 billion in April 2019.

Canadian sales of vehicles manufactured in North America totaled 36,713 units in April at a value of $1.82 billion, while sales of vehicles manufactured overseas totaled 10,455 units at a value of $456.2 million.
