According to Statistics Canada, new motor vehicle sales in Canada reached 157,341 units in October, reflecting an 11.2 percent decline month-on-month and a 5.5 percent drop year-on-year.
By value, Canadian new motor vehicle sales in October totaled $6.03 billion, compared to $6.79 billion in September and $5.99 billion in October 2015.
Broken down by vehicle type, passenger car sales in October totaled 52,846 units, down 9.1 percent month-on-month and down 9.05 percent year-on-year. Truck sales (which includes minivans, SUVs, light and heavy trucks, and vans and buses) totaled 104,495 units in October, down 12.2 percent from September and down 3.5 percent from October 2015.
