Canadian iron ore shipments down 28.3 percent in October

According to Natural Resources Canada, shipments of iron ore in October 2018 totaled 5,245,093 mt, a 28.3 percent decrease from September but a 76.9 percent increase from October 2017. Of that total, 331,586 mt was shipped to Canadian customers, while 4,913,507 mt was exported.

Year-to-date iron ore shipments through October totaled 43,406,222 mt, up 21.9 percent from the same period of 2017.

Canadian iron ore stocks at the end of October totaled 7,831,416 mt, down 4.8 percent from September levels but up 117.9 percent from levels in October 2017.
