Canadian iron ore shipments rise 13.6 percent in July

According to Natural Resources Canada, total shipments of iron ore in July totaled 4,121,857 mt, a 13.6 percent increase from June and a 6.8 percent increase from July 2016. Of that total, 350,995 mt was shipped to Canadian customers, while 3,770,862 mt was exported.

Year-to-date iron ore shipments totaled 25,565,765 mt in July, up 3.4 percent from the 24,723,522 mt shipped during the same period of 2016. Of the year-to-date total, 2,292,168 mt was sent to Canadian customers and 23,273,597 mt was exported.

Canadian iron ore stocks at the end of July totaled 2,888,818 mt, down 13.3 percent from June but up 1.9 percent from July 2016.
