Canadian iron ore shipments fall 22.4 percent in October

According to Natural Resources Canada, shipments of iron ore in October totaled 2,963,691 mt, a 22.4 percent decrease from September and a 10.6 percent decrease from October 2016. Of that total, 353,756 mt was shipped to Canadian customers, while 2,609,935 mt was exported.

Year-to-date iron ore shipments totaled 35,619,711 mt through October, up 1.2 percent from the 35,193,300 mt shipped during the same period of 2016. Of the 2017 year-to-date total, 3,347,134 mt was sent to Canadian customers and 32,272,578 mt was exported.

Canadian iron ore stocks at the end of October totaled 3,593,086 mt, up 21.2 percent from September and up 17.2 percent from October 2016.
