Canadian iron ore shipments up 42.6 percent in December

According to Natural Resources Canada, shipments of iron ore in December 2019 totaled 5,258,319 mt, a 42.6 percent increase from November and a 3.2 percent increase from December 2018. Of that total, 396,474 mt was shipped to Canadian customers, while 4,861,845 mt was exported.

For the full-year 2019, Canadian iron ore shipments totaled 54,131,398 mt, up 6.2 percent from the full-year 2018.

Canadian iron ore stocks at the end of December totaled 5,611,181 mt, down 13.9 percent from November levels and up 13.8 percent from levels in December 2018.
