Canada’s Department of Finance has announced that Canada has imposed additional import tariffs against steel, aluminum, and other products from the US worth C$16.6 billion ($12.6 billion) as of July 1, as countermeasures against the US steel and aluminum tariffs.

Accordingly, certain steel products from the US are subject to 25 percent duty and certain aluminum products and other products, including food products, whisky, beverages and machinery, are subject to 10 percent additional duty.

The department stated that these countermeasures will remain in place until the US eliminates trade-restrictive measures against Canadian steel and aluminum products.
