According to Bulgaria's National Statistical Institute, the country's seasonally adjusted industrial production index increased by 3.2 percent in January this year as compared to December 2010, and rose by 9.3 percent as compared to January 2010.
Accordingly, in January 2011 as compared to December 2010, Bulgaria's seasonally adjusted industrial production index in manufacturing increased by 18.7 percent, while decreases of 1.5 percent were registered in the mining and quarrying industry and in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply.
The most significant increases of production in manufacturing were seen in the manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, with a drop of 36.6 percent, in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products at 23.4 percent, in the manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations at 16.4 percent, in the manufacture of textiles at 13.3 percent, in the manufacture of basic metals at 13.1 percent. There was decrease of 5.1 percent in the repair and installation of machinery and equipment.
