The Brazilian ministry of mines and energy, MME, said late this week it has created a working group to accelerate existing mining processes. MME said the working group was created to “propose alternatives” for accelerating research and mine concession authorizations within the scope of the state-run mining agency, ANM.

The working group has a 30-day timeline to conclude its works, and plans to analyze the mechanisms, tolls and procedures for research and mine concession authorizations, which are overseen by ANM. The group’s work should include future and processes already in place. MME said there are currently a large number of long pending processes within ANM.

The working group will be comprised of four people, and the group’s first meeting should take place in four days.
