In March, Brazil exported 26,800 metric tons (mt) and imported 72,000 mt of HRC, against respectively 29,600 mt and 71,300 mt in February.
The exports were destined to South American countries (15,300 mt at $515/mt), and to the US (11,500 mt at $519/mt), FOB conditions, shipped by ArcelorMittal (24,700 mt), Gerdau (1,600 mt) and Usiminas (500 mt), FOB conditions.
Since certain exports are directed to affiliated companies within the same group, it is possible that pricing was established at levels not reflective of prevailing market conditions.
The imports came from South Korea (40,200 mt at $524/mt), China (17,400 mt at $499/mt) and Egypt (14,400 mt at $536/mt), also FOB conditions.
