Brazilian producers are negotiating HRC exports with their South American clients in a reference price of $730 per metric ton (mt) FOB, conditions, for the basic commercial grades, unchanged over the past four weeks.
Since certain exports are directed to affiliated companies within the same group, it is possible that pricing was established at levels not reflective of prevailing market conditions.
In the Brazilian domestic market, HRC of the basic commercial grades is sold by producers, in medium to large volumes, at BRL 4,560/mt ($874/mt), ex works, full taxes except IPI, also stable in BRL over the last four weeks.
Due to the holidays in the country this week, it remains unclear whether the price increases announced for this month have been implemented.
In January, 2026, Brazil exported 94,300 mt and imported 34,700 mt of HRC, against respectively 50,100 mt and 48,500 mt in December, 2025.
The exports of January were destined to South American countries (72,900 mt at $538/mt), the US (11,700 mt at $556/mt) and Turkey (9,700 mt at $473/mt), FOB conditions, shipped by ArcelorMittal (74,400 mt), Usiminas (14,800 mt), CSN (3,500 mt) and Gerdau (1,600 mt).
The imports were from South Korea (21,600 mt at $492/mt), Egypt (11,300 mt at $537/mt), China (1,600 mt at $518/mt) and Japan (200 mt at $3,168/mt, certainly not a market price) , also FOB conditions.
