Byelorussian Iron and Steel Works (BMZ) has suspended its new sheet-rolling mill construction project. The project is expected to be reactivated in 2010-2011.

As SteelOrbis previous reported, the new sheet rolling mill would have a designed capacity of 1.2 million mt, which was planned to be doubled in the future to 2.5 million mt, and would use hot-briquetted iron and metallized pellets as raw material.

The estimated cost of the project in question amounted to about $2 billion.

In October of the current year, BMZ has presented the technical-economical substantiation of the project to the Byelorussian Ministry of Industry, and was planning to initiate a tender for the construction of the new mill.
