Liaoning Province-based Chinese steelmaker Benxi Iron and Steel Group has successfully produced over 70 varieties of steel products, covering more than 700 specifications, with its 2,300 mm continuous hot rolling strip mill which has been in operation for one year now. The products rolled on the mill in question are mainly for high-end applications such as automobiles, household appliances, pipelines and container steel.
The mill has developed X80-100 grade steel for oil pipelines, and has become the principle supplier for China's west-to-east natural gas transmission project.
In 2009, Benxi Steel registered an increase in its sales, with the number of its customers for automotive sheet clients increasing from 15 to 21. Besides major domestic enterprises such as Sino Petroleum Inc., Beijing Hyundai and Shanghai GM, its products have also been sold to more than forty countries worldwide.
