Baosteel cuts energy costs by RMB 440 million in Jan-Oct

According to Chinese steel giant Baosteel Group, in the first 10 months of the current year it reduced its standard coal consumption by 243,000 mt, while it cut its energy costs by RMB 440 million ($69.51 million), as compared to the same period last year.
 
During the China's 12th five-year plan period (2011-15), Baosteel plans to increase its efforts on energy saving and emissions reduction, and it aims to invest a total of RMB 10.1 billion ($1.596 billion) to start up 83 related projects
 
By the end of the 11th five-year plan period (2006-10), Baosteel had cut its sulfur dioxide emissions by 63 percent as compared to the end of the 10th five-year plan period (2001-05).
