Officials of Axis Pipe and Tube, The Prolamsa Group and state and local officials participated in groundbreaking ceremonies Thursday in Bryan, Texas for a new pipe and tube facility. The company will invest in excess of $150 million in the new plant. The facility will operate as Axis Pipe and Tube, Inc., a division of The Prolamsa Group. Axis Pipe and Tube, Inc. was formed in 2013 to build and operate the pipe and tubular products facility in Bryan, Texas.

The plant is expected to employ more than 285 people at full capacity and is scheduled to begin production by mid-2014 and will produce more than 300,000 tons-a-year of energy-related tubular products aimed at meeting the growing demand of the US oil and natural gas industries.

The new 183-acre facility will produce ERW energy tubular products in diameters up to 16", with wall thicknesses up to .625".  The plant will be fully integrated with a slitting line, mill, finishing floor and heat treatment facilities, and will have the capability to produce a wide range of API grades.

Axis Pipe and Tube has formed a commercial partnership with Tubular Synergy Group (TSG) to manage sales for new products. TSG is a sales, marketing and supply chain services provider of oil country tubular goods and line pipe.
