Average HRB 400 rebar price in China up slightly in early May

In early May (May 1-10) this year, the average prices in China of 16-25 mm HRB 400 rebar and 3 mm Q235 hot rolled sheet were recorded at RMB 2,424.6/mt ($391.1/mt) and RMB 2,631.2/mt ($424.4/mt), up RMB 2.2/mt ($0.35/mt) and RMB 27.4/mt ($4.42/mt), rising by 0.1 percent and 1.1 percent compared to prices in late April (April 21-30), as announced by China's National Bureau of Statistics on May 14.

Meanwhile, the average prices in China of 6.5 mm HPB 300 wire rod, 20 mm Q235 common medium plate, 219 mm x 6 mm seamless pipes and 5 mm x 5 mm angles in early May were recorded at RMB 2,478.2/mt ($399.7/mt), RMB 2,540.9/mt ($409.8/mt), RMB 3,482.9/mt ($561.8/mt) and RMB 2,770.5/mt ($446.9/mt), down RMB 3.6/mt ($0.6/mt), RMB 1.1/mt ($0.2/mt), RMB 2.3/mt ($0.4/mt) and RMB 5.3/mt ($0.9/mt), respectively decreasing by 0.1 percent, almost stable, down 0.1 percent and declining by 0.2 percent, compared to the average prices in late April (April 21-30).
