In late February (February 21-28) this year, the average prices in
China of 16-25 mm HRB 400
rebar and 20 mm Q235 common medium
plate were recorded at RMB 2,477/mt ($404.1/mt) and RMB 2,614.2/mt ($426.5/mt), up just RMB 1.1/mt ($0.18/mt) and RMB 1.8/mt ($0.29/mt), almost remaining unchanged compared to the mid-February period (Feb. 11-20), as announced by
China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on March 4. Meanwhile, in late February, prices of 3 mm Q235 hot rolled sheet and 219 mm x 6 mm seamless
pipe were at RMB 2,726.3/mt ($444.7/mt) and RM 3,605.2/mt ($588.1/mt), remaining unchanged compared to mid-February. In addition, prices of 6.5 mm HPB 300 wire rod and 5 mm x 5 mm angles in late February were recorded at RMB 2,560.7/mt ($417.7/mt) and RMB 2,798.7/mt ($456.6/mt), down RMB 12.7/mt ($2.1/mt) and RMB 3.0/mt ($0.49/mt), constituting respective decreases of 0.5 percent and 0.1 percent compared to mid-February.
