Global steel giant ArcelorMittal has announced that its Bosnia and Herzegovina-based subsidiary ArcelorMittal Zenica has completed the €30 million project to rebuild the blast furnace and upgrade other areas of its facilities, including the energy, sinter and steel plants and the rolling mill. The refurbishment project is expected to enable the Zenica plant to continue steel production for up to 20 years into the future.

“This is a step that will guarantee competitiveness in a very turbulent steel market. Directly or indirectly, 12,000 people depend on this company, which is beyond doubt the biggest company in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” stated Fadil Novalic, prime minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who attended the ceremony for the completion of the refurbishment project.
