ArcelorMittal to receive funding for decarbonization project at German plants

Luxembourg-based steelmaker ArcelorMittal has announced that it will receive €2.5 billion in funding from the German government for the decarbonization project DRIBE² at its Bremen and Eisenhüttenstadt plants in Germany.

The funding is now subject to the approval of the European Commission.

According to the project, low-carbon steel will be produced at the given plants with the help of direct reduced iron, which will be produced at the Bremen plant with green hydrogen.
