UK-based mining giant Anglo American expects the production volume at its Kumba Iron Ore unit in South Africa to decline by between 2-3 million mt and its export thermal coal production to fall by around 2 million mt in 2020 depending on the 21-day lockdown period in South Africa, according to the statement made by the company.

In its statement, Anglo American said that it continues to operate the Sishen and Kolomela mines, with half the workforce. The company’s production in other countries has not yet been materially affected by the coronavirus outbreak.
