Anglo American appoints Phuthuma Nhleko to its board

UK-based diversified miner Anglo American plc has announced the appointment of Phuthuma Nhleko to its board as a non-executive director, with immediate effect. Phuthuma Nhleko has been the group president and CEO of MTN Group, a South Africa-listed multinational telecommunications group, since 2002.

Mr. Nhleko will stand down from his positions at MTN Group at the end of March 2011 and will become the non-executive vice-chairman of this company and chairman of MTN International, both of which are non-executive roles.
