Alphasteel to restart billet production in mid-March

As a result of increasing purchase price of billets UK steel producer Alphasteel decided to restart billet production by mid-March, with a production target of 300'000-400'000ton/year. Company director stated that, by producing billet as feedstock at Newport mill in Wales, they are aiming to reduce costs of billet purchase for their rebar mill. It was previously reported in SteelOrbis that Alphasteel had commenced rebar production in South Wales in mid October. Now, company is monthly rebar production is 15'000ton.
