AK Steel announces surcharges

AK Steel has announced January 2006 surcharges for its flat rolled and electrical steel products. A $215/nt ($237.00/mt or $9.75 cwt.) surcharge will be added to invoices for flat rolled carbon steel products shipped in January 2006, and a $255/nt ($281.09/mt or $11.57/cwt.) surcharge will be added to invoices for electrical steel products. The January surcharge for flat rolled products is $13.00/nt less than the company's December surcharge of $228.00/nt ($251.33/mt or $10.34 cwt.) for flat rolled products. The electrical product surcharge for January is $75.00/nt lower than last month's $330.00/nt ($363.76/mt or $14.97 cwt.) surcharge for electrical steel products. AK Steel based its January surcharges on reported prices for raw materials and energy used in the production of its products in November 2005.
