Ajaokuta Steel’s light section mill starts operation

According to recent news in the market, Nigerian steel producer Ajaokuta Steel Complex's light section mill started operations on Friday. As previously reported by SteelOrbis, the steel plant was taken over by Ispat Industries in August for ten years. The takeover was materialized through Global Infrastructure Holdings Ltd (GIHL). The products produced at the mill will be mostly used in construction activities. The current production capacity of the mill is 400'000 tons. It is stated that the figure will cause a significant decrease in local prices of the products produced at the mill. As previously reported by SteelOrbis, the wire rod mill of Ajaokuta commenced operation in November.
