Ajaokuta Steel becomes operational through Ispat Group

According to recent news in the market, Nigerian steel company Ajaokuta Steel Company started production for the first time since Ispat Industries acquired management and operational control of the company in August. As previously reported by SteelOrbis, the company started steel production at the end of October. Ajaokuta Steel Company had never produced a ton of steel for 25 years when Ispat acquired management of the company. The Nigerian government had been seeking an investor for the company, however couldn't find an investor, which would bring the company on stream. The company started first coil production and commenced 130'000 ton-wire rod mill facility.
