Mexican integrated steelmaker Altos Hornos de Mexico (AHMSA) has been authorized to provide steel plate to Caterpillar North America, according to media reports.

The US company approved AHMSA to provide plate out of the steelmaker’s Steckel rolling mill for Caterpillar’s use. Caterpillar North America will use the plates to produce backhoes at its plant in Victoria, Texas.

AHMSA will reportedly provide 12,000 mt of plate per month for an undisclosed period of time. Already, AHMSA provides about 200,000 mt/year of steel products to Caterpillar.
