AHMSA starts construction of new plate line

Mexican integrated steelmaker Altos Hornos de México (Ahmsa) has indicated that it has started the construction of a new plate line at its Monclova site with an estimated investment of $80 million.
 
The new plate line will have an annual production capacity of 200,000 mt and is part of AHMSA's Fenix project including blast furnace No. 6 that came into operation in April 2011, a steckel plate line, a steelmaking electric furnace with a capacity of 1.2 million mt per year, a fourth continuous casting unit and an oxygen plant.
