The two injured workers were rescued while the six others remain trapped under the rock and coal. Mechel Management CEO Vladimir Polin stated that operations are currently being carried out to eliminate the accident's after-effects and to rescue the six miners.
Accident at Mechel’s Southern Kuzbass subsidiary
Mechel has announced that an interseam formation of coal and rock collapsed during excavation work on Friday, May 30, at the Lenin Mine of Mechel's Southern Kuzbass coal subsidiary, injuring two workers and trapping six others.
