Italian plantmaker Danieli has announced that Acciaieria Arvedi has commissioned a new high-performance steel scrap processing plant that has a shredder and processes 200 mt of steel scrap per hour in an optimal electric arc furnace (EAF) operation.

According to the statement, the plant will process about one million mt of light-to-medium grade of scrap per year to offer a high-density quality product, which will increase the performance of the EAF in terms of lower power consumption and carbon footprint.

A Danieli-patented inverter will enable Arvedi to decrease power consumption by 20 percent.
