US HSS prices still softening

SteelOrbis sources have confirmed that the average spot market price for US domestic hollow structural sections (HSS) tubing has softened by $4.00 cwt. ($88/mt or $80/nt) since our last report 2 weeks ago. Prices are now being heard at approximately $71 cwt. ($1,565/mt or $1,420/nt), FOB mill, against $75 cwt. ($1,653/mt or $1,500/nt), FOB mill, on June 29. Sources have also confirmed that deals up to $2.50 cwt. ($55/mt or $50/nt) below this price have been heard based on volume.
